My Ebay buyer died

After a few years of buying on eBay, I finally decided to sell something.
Stuff has been accumulating in our little rowhome, and it’s time for a spring clean.

Since I already had a PayPal account, the setup was simple. After taking a few pictures, I was on my way.

I listed four items, and after a few days, a duel had broken out between two guys over my laptop printer. I had listed it for thirty bucks, and quickly the battle pushed it over the fifty-dollar mark—one nickel at a time. I watched a neck-and-neck race unfold between two complete strangers.

The bid ended around sixty bucks, with my buyer from Tennessee. He even paid extra for next-day mail. I assumed he was in a hurry to print something.

I left a personal note inside, asking for feedback and thanking him for the purchase—all the little touches I like when I buy from eBay.

I cashed out his PayPal payment and shipped the package. I did mess up by not calculating the exact weight, so I shortchanged myself a bit on shipping. No big deal—first-time seller.

I watched my feedback page daily, hoping to get some stars. I still need help erasing a negative remark from years ago when I forgot to buy a 50-cent vintage postcard from some jackass. He left a scathing review over fifty cents.

Then, last week, the printer came back.

No feedback from my buyer.
No message saying he never received it.
The package was covered in “No Pickup” stamps.

I think my eBay buyer died.
